O’Brien sisters

Posted June 28th, 2010

Here are two of the three fabulous O’Brien sisters.

O’Brien sister number one is my mum, Patricia looking pretty foxy in her tuck stitch sweater, stirrup pants and swivel chair.

Next comes Aunty Margaret aka Bridget (not sure why).

Both these photographs were taken by my dad, Pat Sharp – judging by Margaret’s eyebrows – in about 1963.

There is a third sister, Catherine, younger than Mum by 20 years.  Cate, I don’t have a picture of you!

Those girls are hell-on wheels when they get together.  You might as well sit back and enjoy the show, because you are not going to get a word in edgeways.

cabin in the woods

This is my cabin in the woods.  Oh, didn’t you know I had this cabin?

It’s bigger than it looks from the outside.

The patio is round the back.

You’re right, I probably don’t need all of that china.

Best of all, I built the whole thing myself.

when I’m a real surfer babe (instead of just in my head) you’ll see me out in the green in my neoprene bikini and matching beret.  I’ll have longer legs then, too.  You’ll know it’s me because of the groovy board bag on the beach.  In the meantime, I’ll leave this gear for the true surfer rock-star chicks I know – this one’s for you, Jules.  Happy Birthday!

jackson’s dilemma

Just finished this book.

It was the last book she completed before succumbing to dementia.

I was rushing through the last few pages because she was going on a bit and then made myself slow down and appreciate the last words this great author wrote for us to read.

It is not my favorite but definitely had some rewarding Murdoch moments and there was the inevitable drowning.
