seven gauge studio

Posted March 29th, 2011

I was in England last week and stopped by to see my old buddy Joy.  Her Nottingham studio was full of vibrant colors.  She is working on her next collection of knit accessories to be shown in London at  Pulse. I have known Joy for about 30 years and am in awe of her talent with color and pattern. It was very inspiring to see what she is up to and wonderful to have some-one to talk to about machine knitting.

Her husband, Paul is busy working on Joy’s website. I had a sneak peek and it looks like it is going to be as amazing as the knitwear it will represent. As soon as it is up and running I will let you know.

saturday night and sunday morning

No, I am not about to relate lurid details from my weekend.

I watched the movie of this Alan Sillitoe book last week when my brother was visiting.  We found it in the local library after he had turned up his nose at my chick flick collection. This book was mandatory reading when I was at school being as it was set in Nottingham. I still vividly remember the scene where the main character was beaten up by two squaddies.

The movie was filmed in the Raleigh bike factory and round the city of Nottingham. It was a depressing snap shot of that time period (early 60′s) and reminded me how little one had to look forward to as a working class man or woman back then. Goose fair looks just the bloody same, though.
